Inspiring Creative Confidence

Arts

Artistic enrichment opportunities at St. Bonaventure are designed to foster meaningful creative experiences as both a supplement to in-classroom academic learning and as an avenue for engaging artistic passions and celebrating self-expression. Spanning drama, the visual arts, and music, we strive to collaborate with parents to encourage a vibrant and dynamic exploration that cultivates creative practice.

Drama

Drama is incorporated throughout grade-level English language and literature curriculum to bolster intellect through creative theatre exercises. Our after-school Drama Club, open to students in grades 2-8, teaches improvisation and performance techniques, building confidence and improving listening and speaking skills. Theatrical performances are held throughout the school year, with middle school students serving as stage crew members.

Visual Arts

The visual arts are primarily incorporated into student life through our supplemental Meet the Masters™ curriculum, designed to instill an exceptional artistic foundation in our students. This program provides an interactive, multimedia fine art experience where students are introduced to artistic masters and their techniques from across artistic heritages and taught to apply those techniques to their own artistic expression.

A variety of different mediums are engaged, from oil pastels to wire sculpture, to instruct students in different artistic elements spanning color, shape, and line. This use of artistic vocabulary in the classroom is further enhanced by the broad introduction students receive to important periods of art history. To further inspire, students have the opportunity to join our after-school Art Club

Music

At St. Bonaventure, music is offered as a core curricular subject to all students, supplemented by sacred music choirs for students in grades 1 to 8. With learning ranging from instrumental instruction to basic concepts in music theory, our music enrichment opportunities strive to cultivate a deeper understanding and love for music from an early age.
