Service Program for Parents

For more information regarding Service Programs, contact service@stbonaventureschool.org.

St. Bonaventure Catholic School’s low tuition assumes all families will serve 50 hours per year. These requirements are considered part of the cost of tuition for each student. Families may choose to pay a higher cost of tuition of $900 per family instead of fulfilling the 50 hour service requirement. Note that this payment is not tax deductible and is due upon enrollment completion.

Service hours are credited to the school year in which they are performed (July 1 thru June 30). Log into FACTS to find Yard Duty shifts and additional volunteer opportunities, and be sure to log your service hours. Any service hour not logged at the end of the year will be billed at $20.00/hour. Funds from this additional tuition fee are used to hire staff to fulfill the hours that families cannot.

Safety and Yard Supervision Program

Parents can fulfill their Service Program requirement through a variety of volunteer opportunities. The Safety and Yard Supervision Program secures the safety of our students by ensuring the parking lot and play areas are supervised during arrival, dismissal, nutrition break and lunch periods. Families who sign up to serve as safety/yard supervisors are responsible for finding their own substitute.

Families who do not appear for their scheduled yard supervision time and date and do not arrange for a substitute will be charged a $50.00 no-show fine. Safety supervision volunteers must sign in and wear an orange vest that must be returned after each yard duty service.

Volunteering Prerequisites

For additional information regarding fingerprinting, contact Sally Pallach at spallach@stbonaventureschool.org.

COVID: Effective Sept. 17, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced that it is ending the COVID-19 policies that required weekly COVID-19 testing for unvaccinated and under vaccinated workers in high-risk workplaces and schools. The August 11, 2021 State Public Health Officer Order concerning Vaccine Verification for Workers in Schools will be rescinded effective September 17, 2022. This pertains to volunteers at schools as well.

The Diocese of Orange has mandated that all adults who have contact with minors must meet certain requirements for the safety of our children and youth. These requirements apply to all teachers, staff, and parents, relatives, or others who volunteer at the school and have contact with children. Examples of the latter include yard duty volunteers, field trip chaperones, classroom helpers, coaching sports teams, etc. You can read about Diocesan Safety Requirements here.

Fingerprinting

Please complete the live scan application and return it to the school office in -person. There we will provide you with more information and directions to a Diocesan approved live scan fingerprinting facility. A full list of live scan facilities in the Diocese of Orange can be found here.

Safe Environment Training (SET) Course & Policy Against Sexual Misconduct (PASM)

Create a Catholic Mutual Group Connect account and complete the “Safe Environment Training” course. Upon completion, you will be prompted to read and acknowledge the “Policy Against Sexual Misconduct.” Download your certificate of completion and bring a copy to the school office. Detailed instructions to register for the SET course can be found here. SET certification must be repeated every three years.

Both State law and Diocesan policy require all volunteers who have contact with children to be fingerprinted and complete the SET certification prior to volunteering. Parents who choose not to complete the above prerequisites will not be allowed to participate in any activities that involve SBS students. Such parents will also need to buyout yard duty and find service opportunities that do not involve contact with children, or pay the service buyout fee.

Logging Service Hours

Please click here for instructions on how to log service hours in FACTS. Please note the service hours do not delete from year to year. Please keep track of this year’s totals separately.
